August 2011: Gibbons Stamp Monthly 'Website of the Month'

"Often I find it quite hard to write 200 odd words on a website, not so here. With pennyblackstamps.com I am trying to keep the word count down so it fits in the magazine! Trying to keep things concise as possible, this is a website all about quality GB with the empathise on line engraved.
The home page has a very stylish and professional feel with a selection of gems to whet your appetite nicely. On the left hand side of the page are the drop down lists which should help getting you started. A quick click had me looking at the “blacks” and some nice large images on screen.
It was after I picked an item at random I found this websites coup de grâce. I often struggle looking at stamp images on screen, I just cannot see enough detail. Here however, they have come up with a very neat solution.
Once you are looking at an individual stamp just hover over the image and low and behold a box pops up with the stamp zoomed in. As you move the mouse about the image the zoomed in version moves with it allowing you examine the stamp in minute detail. It is a truly innovative and is actually so much fun I spent a good five minutes just playing with it!
I found this website very easy to use and even fun, not many stamp websites can claim that let us be fair. So if quality GB is your thing then have a gander at this.
